Dear
Saints:
If
you're like me, you can probably remember some of your teachers that
impacted your life when growing up. I can remember every one of my
elementary school teachersfrom kindergarten through seventh
gradeand most of them with very fond memories!
What
a blessing it is to have people like these in our schools who are
dedicated to the education of our children. What a blessing it is,
too, to have people in our congregations who have the gifts and
interests to nurture our children in the ways of God. Our Sunday
School and Children's Church programs will begin this year on
September 11th as we kick them off with a Rally Day breakfast and
celebration. I hope you'll come and join us for this fun timeand
bring your kids!
Valerie
Mansell has offered to be our Sunday School Superintendent this
year; and Patty Chappel will again be over Children's Church. We're
also offering something new this fall. In addition to our Sunday
School and Children's Church programs, Laurie Johnson has volunteered
to start a Children's Choir!
There
will be a slight schedule change from last year. We will now begin
at 9:30 a.m. and conclude at 10:15 a.m. For those of you who found it
hard to get your kids to church for Sunday School in the past because
of the early start time, we hope this new schedule will make it
easier for you.
Please
support the education of our children here at St. Matthew. We need,
most of all, your prayers that our kids will develop a meaningful
relationship with Jesus as they sing songs, pray, look into the
Bible, play games, do activities, and a host of other fun learning experiences.
We
also need you to volunteer your time and talents. Valerie, Patty,
and Jeanette Wisenall will be asking for your participation in
limited ways. It's true that if everyone does just a little no one
will become over-taxed, and much will be accomplished. Please be
praying about how you may get involved this year.
I
think we have an exciting program lined up for the coming year. May
God bless us in this important ministry!
Grace
and peace,
Pastor
