Dear
Saints:
As
soon as it was night, the believers sent Paul and Silas away to
Berea. On arriving there, they went to the Jewish synagogue. Now the
Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica,
for they received the [gospel] message with great eagerness and
examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said [about
Jesus] was true. Acts

I enjoy
teaching. Whether others enjoy it is&ldots;well&ldots;altogether
another matter entirely! Be that as it may, we've had several
opportunities here, recently, at St. Matthew to study the Bible and
our Lutheran faith.
Over the
last year our Sunday Adult Forum has studied The Purpose Driven Life
by pastor Rick Warren. The Women's Sunday School class has studied a
Phillip Yancey book and a video series on the early church. Several
of us just finished a challenging seven-week book study on the
Lutheran Faith entitled Where God Meets Man. During our week of VBS,
the adult class discussed various theological perspectives on the
second coming of Christ.
And,
coming this Fall, we plan to offer yet another opportunity for you to
study and grow as a Christian - this time in the intimacy of a small
group setting called GIFT (Growing In Faith Together) Groups. I'm
eager to let you in on this now, as you'll hear more about these
groups in the coming weeks.
Until then&ldots;
Grace and peace,
Pastor Larry |
