Council President's 2011 Report

In 2010, our church went thru some very hard times. At the end of that year we had very little idea of where we were going or how to get there. I felt that we first needed to know what we had for a congregation. This task took several people over a month to accomplish. When it was done, the news was not good. However, it did show that we had a solid foundation to build on.

Next we needed our choir back in robes and looking like a church choir. When the choir was asked, why they did not wear robes, it became apparent that the robes themselves were a problem. The solution to that was to allow the choir to select new robes. They have done this and the robes, selected by the choir, are on order at this time.

We had no choir director assigned, but our organist stepped in to organize the choir. We created the Minister of Music position to oversee all aspects of music. Along with this, the worship team is bringing our music up to date and bringing into the worship service some additional musical talent. This is an ongoing process.

We have had more fellowship activities to bring people in our congregation closer together. These have been well attended and enjoyed by all. These also, will continue.

The past year has been a time to move forward, and, we have done that. Our congregation is looking more like it used to. Once again, St. Matthew Lutheran Church is moving forward and has a bright future.
