Memorial Committee 2011 Annual Report

This committee met regularly throughout the year and considered and acted on the following:

Bricks: Nine new bricks were added to the Memorial Garden pathway this year. These include a replacement brick which added a departure date to Pastor Barskdale's brick, and a new brick for Pastor Flippin. An updated list of inscribed bricks was sent to the Church office and also to the Church Webmaster (Red Mosely) who did a great job updating the list on the Church web site.

Memorial Garden: The garden has grown by leaps and bounds this year and bushes required more trimming than in the past. In addition to trimming, planting 2 new rose bushes, adding pine straw and pulling weeds, a new holly was purchased and planted in the Garden to fill the void that was created with the loss of the elm tree some time ago.

Archives: Work to clean and organize the Archive Closet and complete the project to create and update scrapbooks has been finished. The Closet looks great and the albums are a work of art. Thanks go out to both Allena Sperry and Donna Souerwine for all their hard work. One album at a time has been on display in the Narthex since mid-June.

Finances: During the year the following monies donated have been used for St. Matthew Current and Mission, the Building Fund, Fellowship Hall carpet, World Hunger, Boy Scout Troop #2, choir, music, stamps, Memorial Garden maintenance, archive material and the 2010 Chrismon trees and stands. The Memorial Fund Treasurer's Report for 2011 is attached. The “wish list” currently is empty, and all designated funds have been disbursed or are on hold for future projects.

Officers/Members: Officers for 2011 were Randall Craven, President; Jean Wing, Treasurer; and Sandra Craven, Secretary and at the November meeting they were unanimously reelected for 2012. Other Committee members include Betty Davidson, Sandra Hansen, and Allena Sperry.

As the Memorial Committee continues to work to be responsible stewards of monies donated to our care, we thank you for your confidence and continued support. As always, thanks also go out to each Memorial Committee member for his/her dedication and work.

Respectfully submitted,

Sandra Craven
Secretary
